‘Tis the Perfect Season to Stitch Up Snow Pillows

‘Tis the Perfect Season to Stitch Up Snow Pillows

The snow is coming – or so they say. From warm sweatshirt weather to boots, scarves and heavy coat weather in just a few days. If you have an embroidery machine, Kimberbell has some really cute snow pillows. These two are from their Bench Buddies Series. These January pillows are small so they would look festive in a basket or winter arrangement. They are 5.5′” x 9.5″ and 8″ x 8″.

The little penquin has ear muffs and a scrappy quilt to keep warm. These small projects are quick to make and most of the time you can probably use fabric from your stash to create them.

The snowman is made from white glitter applique (as is the snowflake above). This one also has earmuffs, along with a fringed scarf. So fun! Happy Sewing!

Is It Too Early for Bunnies?

Be Creative with Valentine Mug Rugs

Be Creative with Valentine Mug Rugs

When winter hits us with full force, it is a great time to stay inside and be creative! Mug Rugs are trending now and they give you so many opportunities to be artistic! There are such a wide range of patterns available for sewing, embroidery or crocheting them. You can find patterns at fabric stores, Etsy, Amazon or sewing websites like Kimberbell.

You can also just create your own designs. Most Mug Rugs are about 4 x 7, just enough room for your favorite mug and a tasty treat. Or a glass of milk with a cookie! You can use them much like a coaster, to protect your furniture. But you can also use them to add a pretty touch to your desk or work space.

These were all made on my embroidery machine using the Kimberbell Holiday and Seasonal Mug Rugs, Volume 1 CD. It includes 11 different holiday designs. If you have an electronic cutting machine, like a Cricut, many patterns also include SVG files to cut out the fabric.

If you have bits of fabric left over from other sewing projects, use them for your Mug Rugs. Most designs use small pieces of fabric.

So take some time to be creative! Grab a pattern, or design your own, and make some cute gifts and one for yourself to brighten up your day!

Holidays Are What You Bake Them!

Holidays Are What You Bake Them!

My sister and I share a love of family and baking! One day Laurie told me about her granddaughter going to library and then proudly telling her that she had checked out a cookbook. She was so looking forward to baking with her grandma. So I thought it would be fun to make them matching holiday aprons.

This embroidery pattern and apron were part of the Holiday Bella Box. I thought it was just so cute and a perfect holiday gift for the two bakers.

It is so fun to create homemade gifts! I loved making these and thinking about how much fun they were going to have making holiday treats in the kitchen. Happy Holiday Baking!
