Wouldn’t this make a great housewarming or hostess gift? Cutting boards are easy to make and you can personalize them to give as gifts. Recently I saw a cutting board the shape of a house on Pinterest and thought it would be a fun project.

This one is made out of bubinga wood, which is a very durable hardwood. This wood is pinkish red to darker reddish brown with darker streaks. The grain is stunning and the wood has a natural luster.

I also made a smaller one out of oak, and stained it with a food safe dark Tung oil finish.

To create your pattern, you can draw a house outline, or search online or Pinterest for a house outline or template. The larger one is 10 1/2 inches tall and 10″ wide.

The smaller one is 6 1/2 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches wide. I used a food grade wax to finish both of these.

It is about time to start thinking about Christmas gifts and a specially crafted cutting board would be a wonderful treasure. Have fun being creative!
