How long has it been since you have made a batch of Muddy Buddies or Puppy Chow? What a tasty treat! Our kids used to make giant batches – it was so fun!
Muddy Buddies are such an easy snack to make! From start to finish they only take about 15 minutes! This time I made a double batch to share!
Start by measuring chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter and butter in a microwaveable bowl. I cut the butter into pieces so that it melts faster. Place in microwave for one minute. Stir, cook an additional 30 seconds, or until the mixture stirs easily.
Add vanilla and stir again. Measure cereal into large bowl.
Pour chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal.
Stir mixture together until the cereal is well-coated.
Place powdered sugar in large plastic bag, I find that the large sized oven bags are the perfect size for a double batch.
Add coated cereal to the bag.
Seal or twist at the top and shake until cereal is evenly coated with the powdered sugar.
Place on parchment paper or on baking sheets to cool.
Place about 2/3 cup of Muddy Buddies mixture into a snack-sized ziplock bags. Squeeze out excess air before sealing. This will make about 20-25 bags. We store in the freezer – these are absolutely the best when frozen!
Another option is to store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Enjoy this tasty treat!!!
