What did we do before Pinterest? So many ideas! I love seeing the creative designs. Many of the pinners also include templates and directions, so you can make your own projects. Cruise around Pinterest, find some bunny templates that you like and have fun creating! Here are a few wooden bunnies I made a couple of years ago.
I found templates that I liked, cut out the bunnies from wood scraps, routed the edges and sanded them. It is nice if the wood is thick enough that the bunny will stand on its own. If not, you can make a base out of the same wood, or buy the bases at hobby store. Then I used a variety of paint, paper and finishes and added accessories of flowers, ribbons, and pompoms.
I really like the texture that the Rust-Oleum textured paint added. The textured paint makes this bunny look so regal.I used the brown textured paint on this – always cute to add a cotton tail.Mark had some scraps of some beautiful mahogany wood, it has such a pretty honey shimmer. You can use a Satin Wipe-On Poly or Fast-Drying Polyutethane Spray ,if you want. I painted the edges and back of these bunnies, then used Mod Podge to glue scrapbooking paper to the wood. Then I applied another layer of Mod Podge on top. When you create gifts, you can personalize them, using favorite colors. This was a much bigger project. This “Chocolate Bunny” is about 28 inches tall and made of 1 1/2″ inch thick wood. I cut it out, sanded it, and then painted it with a satin paint. These would make wonderful Easter gifts – add Easter grass and eggs (or chocolate treats), wrap up and add a bow.
There are so many templates available – use them for your wooden projects, Easter cards, puppets or games. Happy Spring! Enjoy!
