Perfect Weather to Bake Pumpkin Doughnuts!

Perfect Weather to Bake Pumpkin Doughnuts!

The last few weeks I have seen these Baked Pumpkin Doughnuts from Sally’s Baking Addiction blog posted over and over by different people. So I had to bake them! They looked so good! Pumpkin doughnuts with fall spices and topped with a brown sugar icing.

Fresh pumpkin doughnuts with brown sugar icing – Perfect for fall breakfast or snacking!

Very easy recipe. Whisk the dry ingredients. Whisk the brown sugar with the wet ingredients. Pour together and mix just until combined.

Place the batter in a large zipped-top bag. Cut a corner off the bottom of the bag and pipe the batter into each sprayed doughnut cup, filling about halfway.

Bake about 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. You could eat them right out of the oven….but wait…until you make the icing.

Make the brown sugar icing and then dip the tops of the doughnuts into the warm icing….oh my…makes your kitchen smell so delicious! Place on a wire rack to set. The icing sets fast, so if you want to add sprinkles, nuts or toppings have them ready to go. The icing will set in about an hour.

These are the perfect pumpkin doughnut! Now I know why so many people were posting these! Absolutely amazing! A recipe to add to your favorite fall treats!

So fun! Top with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or your favorite decorations.

This icing sets up, so about an hour after you put on the icing, they are ready to stack and transport. Cover and store doughnuts for 1-2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. This would be a fun Halloween treat – add a cup of warm apple cider – and you could call it dinner! (Well you might not – but I might!)

Create Edible Masterpieces with Wafer Paper Designs

Do you want to serve cookies that look like painted masterpieces? The Fancy Flours website has a wide array of wafer papers you can use to decorate your baked goods with. These designs are printed on a potato starch paper with USDA approved food coloring.

For these, you bake your favorite sugar cookies, frost with Royal Icing and let dry. “Glue” the wafer paper in place with white corn syrup and let that dry. Then, if desired, frost around the edges of the design and add sprinkles.

Let it Snow! Christmas is on the Way!

Let it Snow! Christmas is on the Way!

Oh no! Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are all sneaking up on us! What projects do you have lined up for the holidays? I had ordered this “Let It Snow” mini-quilt several months ago and just finished it. Now time for the next project!

This “Let it Snow” kit was from Anka’s Treasures, several color variations are available and you can also order a printed or PDF pattern. This is after it was all pieced.

What a difference the quilting makes! Just makes it look so cozy and homey! Mary Kay Lambert did such an amazing job quilting this!

The quilting pattern is perfect! Looks like swirling snowflakes.

Always embroiderer or put a label on your quilts, to identify who made them and what year.

I loved the cute little home and Christmas trees with the snow flakes falling around them.

I decided to experiment with some holiday embellishments. I tried a variety of buttons and holiday decorations.

In the end, I decided to add just a few. The dog at the front door look Goldie, our dog when the kids were growing up. The little cardinal in the window and candy canes just seemed to complete the house.

Enjoy being creative! Sewing allows you be create treasures that can be

personalized. It is usually very relaxing and therapeutic (well – it can get frustrating

when you have to rip and redo!)

So be on the lookout for treasured gifts to make or holiday projects for your home.

Happy Holidays!
