A couple of years ago when I was looking for the “perfect” salsa recipe, I found this recipe for “The Best Homemade Salsa” from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe. This salsa is amazing and the directions are very complete, with many helpful photos. Click on the link below:

The summer weather has given us a good combination of rain and sun and now the tomatoes and peppers getting ripe in the garden. Suddenly we have a surplus of vegetables! Time to make salsa!

It is fun to make pint jars to give as gifts and quart jars to use at home.

You can personalize your labels. These labels are Avery 22807, 2-inch glossy white labels. They also have templates that you can use to design your own label.

Add a raffia bow to make it look extra fun and special.

Use the recipe above and adapt it to your tastes and preferences. I make it just like the recipe, with a couple of exceptions. I vary the number of jalapenos, depending on who I am making the salsa for, some like it hot, others not. I also reduce the amount of sugar to 1/4 cup.
When making the above recipe, read all the directions before you start. There are some really good tips and time savers included.
Enjoy!!!!
