Fall baking has to be the best! Apples, pumpkins and all those wonderfully aromatic spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice are so delicious together. These baked apples are so simple! I used an apple corer to remove the seeds and core, then cut the apple in half from stem to stem. Sprinkle the apple halves with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon, then top with cinnamon streusel. I always love a good streusel – and this is the perfect streusel for baked apples! Add a small amount of hot water to your baking dish, cover with foil and bake. After about 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake about another 20 minutes so that the streusel can get nice and brown and get a bit crispy.

Mark brought home some bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, so I decided to try it as a topping, mixing it with a bit of butterscotch sauce.

These are best warm – right out of the oven! Top with vanilla bean ice cream and then add topping of your choice – like butterscotch or caramel sauce. So yummy! Enjoy fall baking!!!!
This recipe is from the Two Peas and Their Pod blog, it is one of my favorites. They have so many scrumptious recipes! The link below has the recipe and directions to make these.
