German Chocolate Cake Topped with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

My husband’s birthday was last week and since German Chocolate Cake is his favorite type of cake, I decided to try and make one. I had never made a layered German Chocolate Cake before.

Just look at those deep chocolate cake layers sandwiched with gooey coconut and toasted pecan filling! Frost with Chocolate Buttercream, piping a few designs, if you want. You can also top with a few toasted pecans and extra coconut.

After you frost the cake, refrigerate for about 45 minutes before slicing, to let the filling set.

Wonderful dessert – with a cup of warm coffee, or a large glass of milk! The next day I cut a slice and popped it in the microwave for about 10 seconds and WOW! Warm cake with gooey filling and softened icing – so good!

Happy Birthday cake! Perfect for my German Chocolate Cake loving husband! This is an amazing cake – if you love chocolate, coconut and pecans, you will want to try this!
