These easy to make and decorate sugar cookies are from the Pioneer Woman’s blog, she calls them Angel Cookies. You mix up the cookie dough, refrigerate for about 1 hour, then roll the cookie dough into balls. Butter the bottom of a glass, dip it in granulated sugar and gently flatten each ball of dough with the end of the glass. Then spread about 1/2 teaspoon of sanding sugar on top of each one before baking. Gently press in the sanding sugar.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 9-11 minutes, until just barely turning brown. Cool about 2 minutes on the baking sheet.

Allow to cool on cooling rack.

The red and green sugar makes such pretty cookies for your Christmas entertaining!

If you want to add more festive decorations, you can place sprinkles on the cookies right after they come out of the oven. Gently press them into cookie.

- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanillla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups, plus 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons colored sanding sugar or unicorn glitter sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, oil, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla and eggs.
- Add the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt and mix well. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 1hour.
- Using a cookie scoop, drop balls of dough onto ungreased, unlined baking sheets. Smear a dab of butter all over the bottom of a glass, then dip the glass in granulated sugar. Use glass to flatten each ball of dough, dipping again into sugar each time.
- Sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon of the colored sanding sugar, or unicorn glitter, on each cookie.
- Bake until the cookies are just barely turning brown, 9-11 minutes. Be careful not to overbrown. Allow to cool. These are ultra crumbly – so good!
