DoubleTree has revealed the recipe for their legendary Chocolate Chip Cookies! When our daughter lived in Chicago, we would often stay at a DoubleTree, and after a long drive – it was wonderful to be treated to a big warm chocolate chip cookie as we checked in. They are famous for a reason – these are chocolate chip cookies perfected!!!! They serve over 30 million of these each year to their guests.

As you get ready to bake these, note that the oven temperature is set at 300 degrees and you bake the cookies for about 20-23 minutes, then you let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for an hour. So different than our normal cookie directions.
I did notice that the second batch spread just a little more than the first batch when I made them. Since the cookies take longer to bake, the dough was on the counter longer, so the dough gets a bit warmer. It would probably help to cover the dough and place in the refrigerator between batches.

As I looked over the recipe I was surprised by a few of the ingredients. I would not have guessed that they had oatmeal in them, but the oatmeal does add just the right amount of texture to the cookie. A pinch of cinnamon creates that nostalgic “home” smell, and a bit of lemon juice adds to the flavor and helps the cookies rise.
Also note that you cream the butters and sugars on medium speed for 2 minutes, and after you add the eggs, vanilla and lemon juice, you mix for 30 seconds and then beat for another 2 minutes. They do spread as they bake, you can only fit about 8 cookies on a standard baking sheet.

You will love these huge cookies filled with chocolate chips. Your family – and guests – will thank you for making them! Enjoy!
