Plant Cosmos To Add Beautiful Colors to Your Garden

Just looking at these brightly colored cosmos flowers makes me smile! They just look happy! They are easy to grow and will bloom throughout the summer. These annual flowers have colorful daisy like flowers and they are cousins of the daisy and marigold flowers.

Cosmos flowers come in a range of gorgeous colors – pink, white, magenta, white, maroon and orange. Most blooms are 3-5 inches across. They attract birds, bees and butterflies. Deadheading encourages new blooms and branching. Make sure you cut some to bring inside to enjoy! They should last about a week inside in a vase of water.

Cosmos grow 18-60 inches tall and will survive in poor soil conditions and are drought tolerant. The tall ones may need to be staked for support because they have slender stems. They also look so pretty against a fence. There are dwarf varieties available if you want to grow cosmos in planters or containers. All varieties grow best in full sun, but they will tolerate some shade.

They are so easy to grow and they will reseed easily, so keep an eye on them if you don’t want them to multiply. Enjoy these gorgeous flowers!
