Spring Cleaning – Outdoors

We had some beautiful days this week! It was so nice to be able to go outside and start the spring cleaning! Mowed the yard – love the smell of freshly mowed grass! Then raked, and raked, and raked! At last when you are spring cleaning outside you are getting a workout at the same time! Plus as I raked, I found some more crocus hiding under the leaves – like hidden treasures.

When I was helping my son and his wife last year, he showed me a timesaving way to rake leaves. Instead of raking all the leaves and putting them in bags or using the leaf blower vacuum mulcher, use a tarp to gather the leaves.

Lay the tarp down on the ground, near where you want to rake the leaves.
Then just rake the leaves onto the tarp.
You can put as many leaves on the tarp as you can carry or pull.
Gather up the four corners, tucking in side areas and pull to area where are going
to burn or discard them.
If you are going to carry them, you might want to pull edges together to create a bundle.
Makes it so much faster to rake!
I also wet down the area around where I am going to burn
and stay outside while it is burning, just to be safe.
Little crocus hidden under the leaves.
Another hidden treasure.

Happy Spring! Enjoy!
