Mittens, Mittens and More Mittens

Ready for more ideas for creating ornaments and gift tags that are made from air-dry clay? Use mitten cookie cutters and decorate them with stickers, pom poms, paint or jingle bells.

Use items from your kitchen or craft area to create textures on your clay, then cut out the mittens with cookie cutters. Use a straw or skewer to make a small hole in the top of each one.

Let dry, flipping over and flattening about every 6-12 hours. Use sandpaper or sanding blocks to smooth out the edges.

A very simple and elegant way to decorate your mittens is to apply one or two coats of Sparkle Mod Podge to the dry mittens with a sponge brush. Glue on snowflakes or other decorations, if desired.

If you have scraps of fabric, felt or card stock, you can cut strips of them to decorate your mittens. Apply one layer of Sparkle Mod Podge to the top of the mittens, and while it is still wet place your fabric or paper in place. Let dry and apply another layer of Mod Podge on top.

Adding pom poms always makes your creations more festive. I used a needle with a large opening to thread the ribbon through the middle of the pom poms, then applied a dot of glue to the end to hold in place.

What little girl would not like pink fluffy pom poms tied on her package or tree?

Jingle bells can add bright colors and holiday sounds to your packages or holiday decorations.

Stickers and fabric trim were used to decorate these festive pink and white mittens. Apply the stickers to the mittens, then if you want more glitter, apply a layer of Sparkle Mod Podge. Glue on the trim later when the mittens are dry.

Holiday stickers make decorating so easy! Just sponge on Sparkle Mod Podge and let it dry. Apply stickers and instant holiday creation!
