A Tool You Didn’t Know That You Needed for Baking & Crafting!

A Tool You Didn’t Know That You Needed for Baking & Crafting!

My sister-in-law, Kari, gave me this beautiful embossed rolling pin! These would make great Christmas gifts for the bakers on your list – or for yourself! You can create elegant cookies without frosting!

There are so many designs out there! If you do a search, you will find ones for all seasons and celebrations. There are Etsy shops that will even create a special one just for you.

To use the embossed rolling pin, you roll out your favorite cutout cookie dough about 1/4 inch thick with your regular rolling pin. Using a pastry brush, lightly flour your embossed rolling pin. Then check to make sure that there are not any clumps of flour in the design crevices. Then just roll the embossed pin over the dough, pressing firmly. You really need to press pretty hard to get a really defined design.

Transfer your cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone mat. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Let cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then finish cooling on a rack.

So much fun and so pretty! Wouldn’t this make a lovely shortbread design?

So fun to have a new “toy”! Thank you Kari! Enjoy!

Cranberry Cake – Perfect for the Holidays!

Cranberry Cake – Perfect for the Holidays!

Create Edible Masterpieces with Wafer Paper Designs

Create Edible Masterpieces with Wafer Paper Designs

Do you want to serve cookies that look like painted masterpieces? The Fancy Flours website has a wide array of wafer papers you can use to decorate your baked goods with. These designs are printed on a potato starch paper with USDA approved food coloring.

For these, you bake your favorite sugar cookies, frost with Royal Icing and let dry. “Glue” the wafer paper in place with white corn syrup and let that dry. Then, if desired, frost around the edges of the design and add sprinkles.

Bright colorful treat to add to your Halloween party table!

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Are you a pumpkin lover? These pumpkin cupcakes are super delicious! They bake up beautifully and have a fabulous pumpkin flavor with just hints of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spices.

These are packed with pumpkin flavor and are so moist! They are ready to snack on right out of the oven!

However, this easy homemade cream cheese frosting compliments that pumpkin flavor so well, you will want to frost at least part of the cupcakes. I used a large tip, Wilton 1M, to pipe the frosting onto the cupcakes.

Top the frosting with fall sprinkles! So many beautiful fall colors in this mix from Fancy Flours.

What a crazy fall it has been! While cupcakes might not be able to “fix everything”, they can sure make us feel better temporarily! Enjoy these amazing cupcakes!!!!
