Ingredients

1/2 cupbutter softened
2cupssugar
1teaspoonvanillla
2eggs
3cupsflour
1cupcocoa
4teaspoonsbaking powder
1teaspoonsalt
1cupmilk
1/2 teaspoonespresso powder, optional
1cupchopped walnuts, optional
Frosting
8ozcream cheese, softened
1/2cup butter, softened
1tablespoonvanilla
4-4/12cupspowdered sugar
2-3tablespoonsmilk

Cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or use a non-stick silicone baking mat. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl with mixer, add vanilla and eggs, beat well.
Mix dry ingredients (adding espresso powder, if desired) in a medium bowl. Add alternately with milk to butter and sugar mixture. (Add 1/4 of dry ingredients and mix, 1/3 of milk and mix, repeat the process, ending with flour). Mix well.
Stir in walnuts, if desired.
Drop from teaspoon or cookie scoop. Bake at 350 degress for about 12 minutes on prepared cookie sheet. Cool.
Frosting
Beat cream cheese, butter and vanilla with mixer until light and fluffy.
Add 4 cups powdered sugar and whip together. Add 2 tablespoons milk and whip. Check consistency and add more powdered sugar if you want a stiffer frosting and more milk if you want a softer frosting. Beat well.
Frost cookies with desired amount of frosting and add decorations if desired.
